2 Stars Sound but no picture after 1 year and 1/2 months
We had the exact same problem as some of the people here; we bought a 38″ Toshiba Regza LCD with DVD last March (it is now May) and just yesterday, the screen went completely black although we are still getting sound, and the TV menus still appear. At first, we thought it might be a problem with the cable, but after putting in a DVD and getting a similar result (sound but no picture) we came to the conclusion that it was the TV itself.

After only one year and one and a half months of owning this, we were in disbelief that such a new TV would go bad so quickly. We called the store we initially bought the TV from, and were informed that the best thing we could do to try and get it repaired. However, after calling the repair shop, they told us that even though our one-year manufacturer’s warranty had expired, we should still contact Toshiba, as this was still way too soon for a TV to malfunction.

After calling customer service -and telling them that we had unplugged our unit for five minutes, which we had done earlier- we were told that, if we got our set evaluated by a Toshiba repair center, we might be able to get the cost of repair and labor partially reimbursed, and that we might be eligible for an extended warranty. We were given the names and addresses of several authorized Toshiba repair centers in our area, and now, we’re just waiting to see what the verdict is (they said it would take about one to two days).

Hopefully, it will all sort out. After paying nearly $900 for the unit, it would be absolutely ridiculous to have that go to waste so quickly, when every other TV we’ve ever owned has lasted for five years, at the least.

5 Stars Best Bang for the Buck!
At the time I bought this, it was $708.00 with free shipping. It was the best deal around. Great TV with virtually no faults. Get the new version if you want full 1080P support, although the old model up-converts 720P to 1080P with no problems.

1 Star TERRIBLE TELEVISION
My Regza was used as a secondary television and it only lasted 15 months before the backlight inverter panel died…leaving me with an expensive yet useless piece of junk…NO HELP FROM TOSHIBA!!!!! Buy some other brand…it cannot get much worse than this.

1 Star Broke 6 months out of warranty – Thanks, Toshiba!
This TV has a tendency toward a fatal congenital malformation too costly to repair. Throwing mine out not only cost me 75,000 pretty pennies, but it gave me a huge carbon footprint for 2009. Uggh. Caveat emptor!

4 Stars Quality Set
Overall i must say that im very pleased with this set. I have compared it to other LCD televisions and found that it is easy to set up and its picture is equal to much more expensive sets.
