Pack in the sports, movies and games with an amazing backlit 46″ picture1, amplified and enhanced surround sound, and the convenience of sleep timer and picture freeze. Plug in your PC and up to 9 other components-including HDMI™-to create the full entertainment experience. And enjoy the quality and style that can only come from a Bravia™ TV.

Feature List BRAVIA Engine™ Full Digital Video Processor: BRAVIA™ V-Series LCD televisions use Sony’s BRAVIA Engine™ full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations and details, enhance contrast, dynamically improve color, and reduce image flicker.

Full HD 1080: There are a lot of ways to define high-definition but BRAVIA Full HD means you’re getting the best resolution that high-definition has to offer consumers. With Sony BRAVIA V-Series HDTVs, Full HD 1080 means 1920 x 1080 pixels and 1080p video inputs. Your lifestyle demands the best in high-definition and with BRAVIA Full HD 1080 products you get it.

1920 x 1080 Panel Resolution: When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA V-Series televisions have them. Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel resolution with over 2 million pixels (more than twice that of 720p HDTV) is exactly what you need to reproduce the 1080p content that can be delivered by our cutting edge 1080p Blu-ray disc™ player. And working with BRAVIA Engine™ PRO everything from standard definition and high definition is upconverted to 1080p for a picture so real it’s like you’re actually there.

Live Color Creation System: Decades of television know how allow us to realize that an LCD TV is more than just the panel; it’s actually a system. Uncompromised picture quality starts with combining carefully chosen components and circuits to optimize system quality, among these are the color creation and processing functions. That’s what Live Color Creation is all about. It starts with the BRAVIA Engine™ PRO video processing system, which enhances primary colors and corrects half-tone colors for natural overall color. Next, a WCG-CCFL backlight using Sony’s phosphor formula delivers a specific spectrum of light designed to work with our specially formulated color filters. The combination of these three components creates deep, deep blues and natural greens for overall colors that draw you right into the picture itself.

High Contrast Ratio: Sony uses a dynamic backlighting system called ACE (Advanced Contrast Enhancement) on BRAVIA V-Series TVs. ACE automatically senses the APL (Average Picture Level) of the video signal and adjusts the intensity of the backlight for improved contrast. VESA test and measurement methods are applied yielding a contrast ratio of used 7000:1. This number represents the widest possible ratio between black and white contrast levels. Sony also measures their BRAVIA televisions with a more stringent method that measures the amount of black and white levels that can appear on the screen at the same time. This method yields a more real world measurement of 1300:1

HDMI™ and PC Connectivity: Designed for maximum versatility, Sony’s BRAVIA V-Series LCD TVs are equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. BRAVIA V-Series TVs include (2) HDMI 1080/60p inputs. The PC input (HD-15-pin) offers easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA V-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor.

5 Stars Good TV Great price
Consumer Reports magazine directed me to this TV and said Amazon had the best price for it. After much research I found they were right. Although delivery was a little sketchy (didn’t have a set time and date so someone could be home) It worked out well after I found a note on my door where they tried to deliver and couldn’t. I just called the carrier and they brought it right back the same day. I’m so greatful they just didn’t leave it on the front porch. TV works great, no hassles, great service, no high pressure sales tactics. I will be dealing with Amazon again for some future purchaces. Thanks for a good shopping experience.

5 Stars Excellent for the money
I was very lucky to pic this up from amazon for $1500 delivered. While I was aware of the cloud effect that some have complained about, I tested immediately upon delivery and this unit was fine. Out of the box set up is simple – the inputs are easy to access. I have not tried the setup for the color yet, but the delivered basic has a slight red shift, but nothing terrible. What really stud out for me hen I evaluated this TV along side others is the crispness of the blacks and the detail in low light scenes. Of course, the colors are remarkable. All in all, one month after purchase I am extremely happy that I made this purchase

I have linked this to my computer with an dvi and hdmi output and the 1080p is remarkable. I don’t have an HDDVD or blueray to try that out yet.

5 Stars Perfect!
I have had a year now and could not ask for more. Add the price was great from Amazon, no tax and free shipping. Delivery company was awesome. Took it up the stairs in my house and told me to keep the box just in case. Got it one week after ordering. Whole purchase was a no brainer. Now I just got my Sony Blu Ray to go with it. There is no other…….when it comes to Sony.

5 Stars Spectacular picture quality at a great price
I was expecting very good picture on this set yet I was absolutely blown away by the amazing picture quality after we connected our HD Cable box to this set via HDMI. Tune into the Food Network or Discovery HD Theater and prepare to be stunned by the spectacular images on the screen. I find myself watching shows (documentaries, nature specials) that I never watched before. If you’re in the market for an HD set, you really don’t need to get a “high-end” (high-priced) model. This set has proven to be a great value. I don’t think it’s possible to get a better picture anywhere. It’s that good.

5 Stars LCD HDTV
I have had this product for several months. I am pleased with the quality of the picture and the tuner. The many inputs on the tv make it easy to set up and plug in my many accessories. The sound directly from the tv is acceptable, but it is very easy to run through my receiver for great sound.

Get premium picture quality with the 46XV540U. PixelPure 4G digital video processing and ClearFrame 120Hz frame rate technology produce a cleaner picture that is great for high-speed action. Combined with the rich and vibrant colors supported by ColorBurst and the deep blacks that are made possible by DynaLight, the 46XV540U 46″ REGZA HDTV LCD TV is a powerhouse home theater addition. The advanced system virtually eliminates motion blur without decreasing image brightness or adding flicker. ClearFrame doubles the displayed frame rate to 120 frames per second or 120 Hz. ClearFrame utilizes superior Motion Vector Frame Interpolation (MVFI) technology. Utilizing the power of the PixelPure processor, MVFI creates new frames, inserting them between the original frames. PixelPure 4G takes advantage of both the internal 14-bit video processor and the 10-bit display panel to reach 16,384 levels of gradation, producing a smooth and natural picture.

5 Stars Great TV!!!
This is one fantastic TV! I have had it for about a month now and have enjoyed every minute. The picture is sharp (really deep blacks) and the 120Hz technology really does make a difference. I was amazed at the lack of pixelation, especially when watching sports and blu-rays. I bought this and a sony bdp 350 from Amazon Warehouse Deals (both open box units) and each has performed beautifully. They shipped free and INCREDIBLY fast. I cannot recommend this product enough.

5 Stars Excellent Value
This set is performing well. The white glove delivery set it up and all I had to do was set back and enjoy. Wasn’t sure about ordering a television of this size online, but I would have no hesitation about ordering anything of this size again. My sister had bought a 42 inch Toshiba Regza from a store and I bought this 46 inch unit at less cost than her purchase. The set has excellent picture and the sound is better than I expected. The menu is simple to navigate and make any changes you may want to tweak…..I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a good price verses performance.

5 Stars As good for less, Toshiba has out done itself again!!
2nd Toshiba tv, have never been as happy as I was with this purchase….saved $400 instead of Sony or Samsung and got a 120hz hdtv that rivals the performance of the biggest brands!! I researched tv’s for months and you can’t go wrong with this one…..

5 Stars Worth the price!
I’ve purchased refurbished items in the past and have always had good luck with them. Though with this item I was a bit worried since it is my most expensive refurbed! Let me say that I wasn’t disappointed at all! Item was totally brand new and it had tons of features.

I’m still playing around with the settings but even the defaults look nice!

Audio and video display are crystal clear! Especially watching last Sundays SuperBowl!

5 Stars Toshiba 46XV540U is great!!
I purchased the Toshiba 46XV540U at my favorite volume wherehouse store for $1199 one week ago. I originally planned on buying a Panasonic 42″ 1080p Plasma, but after discussing Plasma panels with some video engineers at work, I was NOT convinced that it would be free from image retention (burn-in), especially since I watch a lot of 4:3 programming and I didn’t want to lay awake at night worrying about having left-right bars burned into the screen. Then I set my mind on either a Sony W4100 or Z4100, but my local wherehouse only had a 40″ Sony. The 46″ cost too much. I settled on a Sony because I own a Sony 55″ SXRD, which I find stunning, and as good as any Plasma or LCD, and it’s 120Hz and 1080p/24 display. Then I saw the Toshiba, which stated that it had similar specs as my SXRD. After obsessing and doing extensive research, I decided to buy the Toshiba. I was hesitant since I really liked what I saw on the Sony LCDs. Out of the box, the Toshiba looked good, but the levels needed to be toned down. I initially used a THX DVD (any DVD that is THX certified, like Toy Story, Monsters, Inc), and the disc has a THX setup menu that will help you adjust any TV to look pretty darn good. Later I used the Video Essentials DVD for further adjusting. After setting the color, tint, brightness and contrast, I couldn’t be happier. One of my biggest necessities of any HDTV is that it displays SD (standard def) channels well, and I’m happy to say that this Toshiba does a great job. HD on my Charter cable looks stunning in 1080i. Blu-Ray is jaw-dropping. I also watch a lot of sports and the 120Hz option looks great, and from what I’ve read in test reports, the Toshiba handles this better than Sony, and I condider the Sony better than Samsung for this. Anyways, the Toshiba colors are excellent, it gives deep blacks, I don’t see any pixel blurring or lag and fast motion on sports looks rock-solid. AND, this 46″ Toshiba cost about $500 less than a similar-sized Sony. The speakers in the Toshiba give satisfactory audio, especially for my bedroom, where I have this set. The image looks pretty good even at extreme angles. The screen is matte-finish, which is essential in my opinion to control reflections. The bezel of the Toshiba is gloss black. I would have preferred a satin-black bezel, but no problem. The Toshiba remote is well laid out. I recently owned a Toshiba 50″ CRT rear projection set and I loved the remote on that set because of two things: 1) Mute does a half-mute first, then a full mute with a second press. Half-mute allows you to turn down the TV if answering a phone but you can still hear the sound. 2) The Channel Return will actually return you to a previous Input. So, if you are watching a DVD then switch to a cable channel to check out a football score, you can immediately return to the DVD by pressing the RTN button without the need of it bringing up the numerical menu or cycling through the Input options to get back to the DVD. This new Toshiba remote keeps these two great functions!! The 46RV540U is a terrific TV!

Toshiba 52XF550U is a full-featured HD LCD TV that’s practically all screen. This 52.0″ (measured diagonally) model combines Toshiba’s Super Narrow Bezel design with cutting-edge technology to deliver a beautiful picture in an equally beautiful package. With Full HD, there’s no need to scale down a 1080 signal: Full HD creates the pinnacle in picture quality. ColorBurst technology expands the number of available colors and improves the color accuracy. This significantly improves both color purity and color saturation. The combination of ColorBurst and superior video processing creates colors that are more vibrant, more natural, and more enjoyable. The advanced Anti-Blur system virtually eliminates motion blur without decreasing image brightness, or adding flicker. Images are now crisp and clear regardless of image motion.StableSound audio technology eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels.

5 Stars Best LCD I’ve seen to date
I have to echo what’s already been said here; the gloss of the screen is less than you’d find on a plasma but a little more than on the matte LCD’s, though the only LCD sets that I think are actually comparable to this one are the higher-end Samsung and Sony panels, and they both have glossier screens than this Toshiba.

Black levels are stunning, especially for an LCD. Hi-definition sources such as Blu-ray discs are absolutely amazing on this set, the image has that 3D feel to it and the colors definitely pop, though you’ll need to fix the settings to get things accurate and to make movies, especially hi-def movies, really shine.

Upscaled DVD from my PS3 looks mostly superb, though discs with poor source transfers can’t be helped all that much.

Games from the PS3 look amazing as well, it’s a huge upgrade from my old Sony 720p RPTV (LCoS), a KDF-46E2000, which was a damn nice set in its own right. The images, games and films are just a great deal sharper and have more of a life-like feel to them…the extra 6″ of diagonal screen size doesn’t hurt either.

If you start with the settings found at the following link and then adjust based on your room and preferences, you’ll have a solid looking picture without much trouble at all. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=14269299#post14269299

This is a great set, well worth under $2500.

5 Stars Very Impressed out of the Box
Just got this lcd last night and without even tweeking it yet I was very impressed by the color compare to the vizio 46 that I returned from costco.Comparing the two tv’s is not an option. Now I can see real blacks and the color is so amazing. How much more if I tweek it, but i dont have time right now due to busy work but I know it will be better when i start tweeking it with my calibration software. Like I said, just right out of the box I am very impressed… Im glad I chose this TV…For so many months of studying the next HDTV for me. THis is the exact TV I really wanted.

1 Star Annoying red pixel in the right of the screen
I wouldn’t recommend any Toshiba lcd tv’s. After a couple of months of use, a red pixel started to appear approximately 5 inches from the right panel, centered vertically. I called for support, and all they said that this was a “feature”; well, I call it a defect. I have a Sharp Aquos 32″ about 4 years old and a Pioneer 43″ plasma over 5 years old now, none of them have any problems. Stick with Sony, Sharp or Pioneer but stay away from Toshiba or you’ll be stuck with their “features”.

5 Stars There will never be a “perfect” HDTV, but…
I have searched far and wide for the “perfect” LCD HDTV for at least 2 years, and there isn’t one. If you think you’ve found one then do not go searching for Reviews — and stay away from the heavily-active Forums that discuss these items because you will become discouraged.

The first problem is in knowing what to look for. The next is in knowing what to avoid. The third is figuring out if any of this matters to you, in your situation, for your specific needs.

This Toshiba 52″ is the latest iteration of their top-line products. And if you’re into minimalism, it’s a stunner. The bezel is amazingly thin compared to other sets. Advantage? It allows you to fit a larger screen into your available space, if the conditions are right.

But, ah — the catch! Next out will be Toshiba’s super-light, super-thin sets that are 2″ less thick. Can you wait yet another year? You’ll never defat the “What’s Next” Catch-22.

It has every major feature you could think of, but I won’t go into the merits of these because you’ll soon find that beauty and “merit” are in the eye of the beholder. If you want easy setup, this TV has it. HDMI? It has 3 inputs and one output. Nice Black Levels — definitely, yes. Great color accuracy out-of-the-box — yes… to my eyes. I’m sure a professional reviewer will find fault with this compared to the Pioneer Kuro excellent line of plasmas.

Like every other set, does it come from the factory over-tweaked? Yes. It will take some research to fine-tune the picture. The darn conrtrast and backlight were set at 100% — which hurt my eyes terribly in a dark room. Is every LCD perfectly glare-free? — not this one. The reflections of overhead lights are annoying (like reflections off Scotch “Magic Transparent Tape”), but softer than any Plasma or Glass-fronted screen I’ve seen. The speakers on this set are nearly invisible and perfectly adequate (much more so than my 37″ Sharp).

If you insist on looking into the nitty-gritty, please note that — at this time — I’ve been unable to find any professional Reviews on this set. And it’s been out there in limited quantities for a few months. Finding it locally may be difficult. Why? Because the guys in the know are snatching these up as fast as inventory comes into stock. My purchase from Beach Audio was very easy and they communicated very well. But they are, technically, not an authorized Reseller. Their Distributor and Amazon both are, and I’ve been reassured that Toshiba will not simply walk away from their Warranty.

UltimateAVMag.com is working on a professional Review, right now — due out shortly. AVSForum has a raging online discussion that has most people very excited about this set — and it has gone on for months with some great insights and advice (even tweaking tips on how to squeeze out the best picture) — and no “This kills the deal!” discoveries, as happens on so many other seemingly worthwhile sets. These participants are not pansies. They’ll eat your lunch when it comes to discussing esoterica about these sets that you never knew existed.

But beware! These Forum settings can destroy the unprepared or uneducated casual visitor by nitpicking the least-likely of all problems, and blowing it completely out of proportion to most viewers experiences. Sometimes, you’ll wonder if these participants ever enjoy anything! Ahhh, the joys of fanaticism! Having said that, it is perhaps especially telling about this model that they have not found too many Achilles’ Heels… yet. Not too many people actually own this set (I do). When they hit the big consumer stream, this may all change as newer sets rise to the occasion. You cannot stop progress.

When turned to no picture, my set displays “brighter” dark regions in every corner. Some guys find that unacceptable, but I’ve only ever seen a true black on a Pioneer plasma. And I’ve never noticed these regions while watching any video or TV images. If these types of revelations bother you — DO NOT VISIT AVSFORUM!! Your enjoyment of ANY set may be doomed if you read these discussions too deeply. Or if you have a thin skin.

Biggest observation I can offer…

If this is your first “big” HDTV, please beware — the bigger you go, the worst your “normal” TV channels will look. Unless you invest in a Video Scaler (several thousands of dollars, although Gefen has one coming for HDTV that runs about $600) or an Audio-Video Receiver that includes an upscale HQV Processor (such as Onkyo’s TX-SR875, at slightly over $1,000), you will NEVER improve regular programming by buying a fancier or larger set. Most homeowners not versed in resolution and scaling issues will be frustrated and angry about this. I think it will become the Number One misleading “thing they never mentioned in the store” — where they probably only ever viewed demo discs of Blu-Ray movie clips.

You buy an HDTV for viewing HDTV content. NOT for improving SD or sub-par video or compressed cable source material. Blu-Ray movies will be so darned perfect, you may cancel your cable and FIOS and satellite movie bundles and decide to only rent Blu-Ray discs through great services such as Netflix. Local or piped-in HD stations will vary in quality. The good ones will knock your socks off — but poor video sources are MADE WORSE by large and expensive HDTVs, just as they are by the cheap ones. A few of these do offer better video processors, but there is no easy source to look at, telling you which ones they are. That’s where the Forums do help — some of these guys rip their sets apart and tell you which processors they found inside. Remember I mentioned the word “fanaticism”??

This Toshiba is one of the best LCDs available, so far (at least, until the professional reviews come out telling us Early-Adopters that we’re wrong). So stay tuned…

5 Stars Toshiba 52″ Masterpiece
This TV is a stunning LCD panel.

5:5 pulldown, great upconvert, small bezel, hdmi 1.3a for future…

I still can’t believe how good it looks.

If I had to say the negatives…

Panel is in between a plasma and lcd as far as gloss (I think they call it new matt or somethign)… It does reflect some light not as bad as plasma but it does reflect.

Inputs in back are kind of in a bad place for wall mount

Unit is 6 inches thick —

Positives are many – great blacks, great sports, great games…

Color settings in service mode are great…

Price at under 2500 is a steal — if you can find one…

The XV645 series combines the REGZA Engine (PixelPure 5G & Resolution+) with ClearFrame 120Hz for superior picture quality, and adds the bottom Deep Lagoon design for an appearance that also stands out from the pack. ClearFrame 120Hz, doubles the video frames from 60 per second to 120 per second to reduce any motion blur that could be caused by fast action video. By using advanced motion vector frame interpolation, it improves picture clarity without affecting picture brightness or adding flicker. For those that prefer a more film-like picture, there is also a 5:5 Pull-Down option available. Resolution+, some video content is in high definition (HD), but some is still in standard Definition (SD). However, REGZA virtually levels the content playing field with Resolution+. Resolution+ is super resolution technology that upconverts and enhances 480i, 480p, and even 720p content to create a sharper, more detailed picture. With REGZA and Resolution+ all of your standard DVDs, SD TV channels, camcorder videos, and even SD video games will feel like HD. AutoView, a TV picture must be bright enough for high contrast viewing during the day, but not so bright that it causes eye strain at night. To achieve this, REGZA offers AutoView. This system combines an ambient room light sensor and advanced algorithms that monitor the incoming video signal. AutoView can automatically control the TV picture settings to produce the ideal picture in any room lighting condition. Bottom Deep Lagoon Design, inspired by nature and reminiscent of sand disappearing below the surface of calm shores, the Deep Lagoon design adds a unique feeling of character and depth to flat panel TV.
User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars I’m so glad I bought this tv
I bought this tv last week and so far have really been satisfied. I had a toshiba for 11 years before this one, and never had a problem with it, so while I didn’t buy this tv solely because it was a Toshiba, but it certainly was a benefit.

Here’s the scoop on the tv as far as I can tell.

Pros: The tv is 120Hz and is the most affordable lcd tv this size with that type of Hz. Here’s why that’s important. If you like to watch sports or play video games, the lower the number is in Hz the slower the processer is in transferring the movement on the screen. But the higher the HZ the faster it will go. 60Hz is available and is less expensive, but if you can afford the 120Hz you should get it, and with this toshiba you can.

Another pro is the ease in set-up. You literally plug it in, turn it on, answer a few easy questions, and you’re done.

It also looks cool, the toshiba light up on the front has absolutly no value to the picture, but it looks way cool.

The Cons:

The sound is the biggest liability to the TV. If you plan to use a sound system to compliment the tv then this is not an issue, but if you plan to use the installed speakers in the TV, you will notice that the lower tones are hard for Toshiba(It distorts them, a little). This is why I gave the tv 4 instead of 5 stars.

The remote isn’t as flashy as the samsung, but it is functional and has a pretty cool glow in the dark feature.

In short,, if you are on a budget but you really want a good lcd tv at least 40 inches then this is a GREAT buy. If money is no object then you should probably look at the Samsung led tv’s(they are amazing, but cost 3 times as much money)

5 Stars No Buyer’s Remorse Here
So far this set has very pleasing. My only complaint is the clunky remote control which has a physical switch to change modes (TV, Cable/Sat, AV1, AV2). The set has 3 HDMI inputs which is nice though many in this price range seem to have 4.

During initial set-up the set asks a few questions most of which are basic like if the set will be connected to antenna or cable before automatically scanning and adding channels. The first question though is unusual. It prompts for whether the set will be used in a home or as a store display. Selecting home reduces the backlight to 50% power though this can be adjusted later through the video configuration menu.

The set also features advances picture controls many of which I have not had time adjust but should provide enough control to satisfy any one who considers themselves a video guru. Also this TV features basic audio controls (treble bass & balance) as well as features like stable sound, voice enhancing, and bass boost so the control over audio is pleasing.

I chose this set for two reasons. I have a standard-def Toshiba set that I’ve always liked the picture on and the Toshiba HDTV’s don’t seem to create (or maybe they have the ability to correct) some artifacts on some HD content.

I was considering another brand, but I had an opportunity to watch Planet Earth on a set with spec’s similar to this one and noticed the other brand displayed artifacts when a subject (bird) was moving rapidly across a solid color field (sky). I watched the same clip on an older Toshiba Regza model a member of my family owned and didn’t see the artifacts so I chose to stick with Toshiba and have noticed no artifacts on similar video with this set.

Bottom line: I’m very pleased with this TV

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Great… for those that don’t have a picky eye
We bought this TV against my better judgement, because of the price. The set itself is rather good looking, and the set-up is relatively a breeze. I can see that this brand and model are geared more towards people who aren’t to be bothered by complex features and advanced menu functions. I, however, am.

While this set may boast some of the same technologies as other, higher-quality sets, the technology isn’t quite the same. The 120 Hz HD “Natural Motion” feature just isn’t as refined as it is on other sets. But the worst is the HD “Pixel Perfect” feature that is supposed to make everything sharper. Unfortunately, this is like going into a remedial photo editing program and using the Sharpen Image tool about 5 times too many (if any of you have played around with editing your photos, you may know what I’m talking about). The result is that a lot of times, you get the dreaded “halo effect” around edges. Sometimes this benefits the picture with bolder, simpler images, but when there are lots of smaller details, this actually ends up making the picture worse. Pixel Perfect has actually made certain DVD text impossible to read. That’s completely unacceptable. I have to say that the contrast in this TV is pretty poor.

The one plus about this TV is that the sound system is OUTSTANDING. They are probably among the most powerful speakers ever to be mated to an LCD TV.

With all that said, this set will suit you fine if you just want a just-capable-enough set with a big picture and impressive sound, but those with a more discerning eye will definitely need to look somewhere else.

5 Stars Best value for money
I received 52PFL7403D/27 today and hooked it up to HD Satellite Dish and a new Blue-ray player.

I am really impressed by the quality of the picture, the clarity, fluidity (120Hz) and sound. I compared this extensively to the Bravia W series at Costco and found this to have better anti-reflective screen, better sound system and deeper blacks than the Sony. Also the 2ms response time is best in industry. I liked the simple and elegant GUI. The color setting wizard does an excellent job. The remote is simpler than others I have seen but I will soon be replacing it with my Logitech remote.

With my first (upscaled) DVD movie tonight I was shocked at how clear every thing looked and I have not even played a Blu-ray DVD yet. ESPN and other channels looked awesome too. The technology is unbelievable.

5 Stars Best Multisystem TV
Note that this TV will work with 110- 220V and with NTSC as well as PAL signal- thus this is a truly multisystem TV and that was a key criterion for me. I compared this also to the only somewhat multisytem TV on the market(Sharp) Additionally:

Positives:

1. VERY natural picture- people have mentioned the 3D effect in HD- it is true, you can actually feel the depth in the studio behind the newscaster. Natural skin tones – very comfortable on the eye. Sharp had a more “smudged” color feel

2. Decent SD. Since it is 52″ please do not sit nearer than 8 feet to view SD or you will be disappointed in any 52″ TV, but I think this TV does a good job on SD.

3. Very easy set up- no need to spend $ on professional calibration. The Sharp I had to keep calibrating again and again.

4. Enough inputs options. 4 HDMIs, 2 component, 1 S and 1 Composite, 1 USB. No computer input though unless use DVI

5. Comes with swivel stand

6. Great in bright light, although in high amount of sunlight the contrast gets washed out.

Negatives:

1. Digital natural motion and 120Hz don’t seem to make much of a difference for me. MAybe there is something to it- I am yet to see it clearly.

2. Picture gets grayer as you move away from the center of the TV. Sharp had less of an issue

3. Decent profile/ looks- simple black bezel, but Sharp is thinner and lighter and better looking though. This one is heavy- much more than Sharp

As for the Sony and Samsung enthusiasts, please go for them if you have the extra $, they definitely have a better picture and you should judge the price/ value equation. I had to rule them out as they are not Multisystem.

Finally I struggled a lot about Plasma vs. LCD (over >6 months actually), ultimately the weight, power requirement and bright light compatibility moved me in favor of LCD.

Godd luck!

5 Stars Best Hd i have ever seen
My phillips was stolen about a week ago

i “thought” i would get an upgrade by going with the 52″ sony Bravia

w4100 i was wrong wrong wrong my wife is very upset she had gotten used to the real life looking hd of the phillips and to downgrade to the bravia made us feel like we had bought a SD TV i want my phillips back

5 Stars Great tv and great price!!
We bought this TV from SAMS Club and it has the highest ranking of the most important features for LCD tvs; Resolution 33,0000 to 1, 2ms response, 120 hz, and a great price. I can’t stop talking about the “real life” picture. I feel as if I am standing on the sidewalk watching the action in a movie. The sports are crystal clear and no blurring. What a great picture!!!

4 Stars Geat Buy!
We bought a Philips 32″ Flat screen & loved it. So when we were looking for a new 52″ for the living room, we knew Philips was a great brand to go with. We also knew that we needed to buy a screen that had a matt finish to it, & this one did (even though it does not list it in it’s description, it does have a MATT FINISH SCREEN, for those who don’t like a glare from the sunlight or in-house lighting). The picture is “brilliant with color” & the sound is just “ok”, until we can afford a surround sound system to hook up to it, we’ll just have to deal with it. Only reason we gave it 4 1/2 stars is b/c of the sound quality isn’t the best. Overall, great buy for the money!!!!

5 Stars Great picture! do not see any halo-ing effect but realy 3D illusion picture on selected blue-ray movies!
Philips 52PFL7403D/27 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTVI’ve chose Phillips LCD TV because I think Sony and Samsung are making its products overprized by brand name. I liked a technical data reported on Phillips site for this TV. Can not find any artifacts on the screen of this breathtaking device! Perfect Pixel works well. Strongly recommend anyone who wants good 52” machine. My son is very picky but he couldn’t say anything bad about quality of this product. It’s amaizing 3D effect that you can get sometimes. I’m happy!

5 Stars Great TV, you won’t regret it!!
This TV is amazing, the picture quality on HD channels is wonderful and still good on non-HD. Stick a Blu-Ray in and you get awesome picture that makes you feel like you are there! Fly over scenes make you feel like you are flying! I would highly reccomend this TV for anyone looking to get a great tv at a great cost!

3 Stars Not for Pros
If you want to upgrade your TV on the cheap, than you can get away with spending relatively little for this set. You will, however, get a fairly dumbed down TV with half-*ssed technology. I had the most problems with the “Pixel Perfect HD” feature, which uses aggressive edge enhancement… to the point that it creates excessive halo-ing and artifacting. It becomes a hit or miss with picture clarity, and ends up suffering the most with fast motion, or heavy details. The Automatic ratio recognition is also pretty lousy, and the overall speed at which the set can decode signals is annoyingly laggy.

If you’re the type of person who just wants a big TV and don’t have a discerning eye, than you should do fine with this set. Otherwise, spend the money for something better.
